In Detroit, full-service FM stations will be available in Band 6. Due to the very close proximity to the Canadian border, very few channels are available as WIDE-FM stations on 76.5~78.9 (in Band 5) and 82.5~84.9 (in Band 6) cannot be located close to the border and there are restrictions on some US priority channels near 79 and 85 MHz.
In Band 5, LPFM stations will need to protect WGVK, Kalamazoo. Another Channel 5 station, WLMB, Toledo OH is in the process or has already moved off of Channel 5. In most areas, LPFM stations proposing Band 5 must include a technical study to show no interference to WGVK.
In Band 6, DTV station WOUC-TV, Cambridge OH is fully protected. Stations may need to make a showing that their proposal will not interfere with that station.
